What makes designing a movable bridge more challenging than designing a fixed bridge? The amount and level of coordination between a complex design team of civil, structural, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic engineering disciplines. Whether it’s the design of a new movable bridge or the design of movable bridge components, it all starts with the conceptual approach and philosophy of the design team. To be successful, there must be a two-way learning process in which the design team understands the project requirements, governing codes, and delivery methods; and the bridge owner is given ample information on how the solutions that are being proposed will effectively meet those requirements and minimize maintenance costs in the long-term.
Our range of design services include:
- Preparation of PS&E for rehabilitation and new construction
- Design for ease of installation, maintenance, and long-term reliability
- Incorporation of up-to-date regulations by ASHTO LRFD Movable Highway Bridge Design Specifications, AREMA, and other governing codes
